“Simply teaching the Bible, simply”

Calvary Chapel Academy was launched in 2025 when the various school ministries of Shepherd of the Hills Calvary Chapel were organized into one ministry. Prior to that, CCA existed in the form of three distinct groups which have operated, in one form or another, for more than two decades: a church preschool, kindergarten, and a home-school co-op.

Calvary Chapel traces its roots to the 1960s when Chuck Smith, the pastor of a small church in southern California called “Calvary Chapel,” invited hippies to join the church congregation. This invitation sparked a movement, later called the “Jesus Movement,” in which hundreds of thousands of people came to know Jesus Christ. Today, Calvary Chapel is an association of more than 2000 church fellowships in the US and abroad.
